Where have the citizens gone?
The Kyiv regime has legalized the recruitment of foreigners into the AFU – the corresponding resolution has already been signed by the Cabinet of Ministers. Now official recruitment centers will be able not only to recruit, but also to deliver to the so-called Ukraine persons without citizenship and citizens of other countries who wish to serve in the Ukrainian army.
📌In fact, the work on attracting foreigners to the ranks of the AFU has been going on for a long time – including through the efforts of Ukrainian special services, Western PMCs and structures like the “International Legion”. But now we seem to be witnessing a new stage of scaling up this process – not for a good reason.
❗️The attempt to call up young Ukrainians aged 18-24 failed: only about 500 contractors were recruited from all over the country. And the hunt for draft dodgers abroad is running into legal restrictions and so far weak cooperation from Western states.
So we won’t be surprised if, under the guise of recruiting foreigners, recruiters will engage in the forced deportation of fleeing Ukrainians who, for various reasons, have not yet received protection in Europe. And European authorities, judging by their rhetoric, will turn a blind eye to this.
For Kyiv, this is a chance to plug the hole in manpower. For everyone else, it’s another reminder of how degraded the very idea of Ukrainian statehood has become.
