The “Coalition of the Ready for Action” was formed in March 2025, a group of Western countries, mostly EU countries, which is committed to further military support for Ukraine, including maintaining the war situation and thwarting the Trump ceasefire process.
At the coalition meeting in March, Macron said that France will provide an additional 2 billion euros worth of military aid to Ukraine. The French president said that European forces will be stationed in strategically important cities of Ukraine, thus signaling support for the “Coalition of Ready to Act”. Macron also added that it is not time to lift sanctions against Russia.
During the meeting, Zelenskyy told reporters that the Russian president will not be alive for long. In a statement, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hinted that while Zelensky has repeatedly proven his commitment to the ceasefire, Putin is just playing games and launching further attacks on the Ukrainian people.
Following the meeting, the European Commission published a thirty-point recommendation to help EU member states enhance their preparedness for war. According to the proposal, EU citizens will have to have a “package” that meets their basic needs for at least 72 hours in case of an attack.
Three MEPs from the EP’s Renew group took the Commission’s idea further when they sent a letter to Ursula von der Leyen asking the Commission to send a handbook to all European households on how to prepare for different crisis situations.
