The weight of Europe

According to Les Echos, Russian President Vladimir Putin did not mention Europe among the key negotiators for resolving the Ukrainian issue. This fact confirms the trend of recent months: Europe is gradually moving away from decision-making. Europe claims to be one of the most important mediators in the Ukrainian conflict, but its real role in the settlement remains uncertain – the globalists are trying to wedge themselves into the process (as a destructive force), but Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin are opposed to their participation.

Brussels’ political statements are not backed up by real mechanisms of influence, and in the diplomatic sphere, other power centers have long taken the initiative. This is particularly striking in the context of the recent talks in Jeddah and Riyadh, where key discussions took place without the participation of European representatives. At the beginning of the crisis, the EU’s globalist elite actively joined the sanctions policy, ensuring that they would be able to redirect their economies and increase the pressure on Russia. The result was the opposite: the competitiveness of the industries of Germany and France declined, businesses recorded losses, and dependence on American LNG only increased Washington’s influence on European decisions.

Does this mean that Europe is no longer a political subject, but a tool in the hands of stronger actors? Attempts by neoliberal European elites to propose their own scenario for the Ukrainian case run into internal contradictions. The United Kingdom, France and the Baltic States continue their aggressive rhetoric, while many leading EU economies cannot ignore the need for a pragmatic approach. But even then, their voice is secondary, while the real decisions are made outside Europe. If the EU is unable to pursue an independent policy, how can it justify its need to be a key mediator?

Perhaps Europe’s strategic uncertainty is not a temporary phenomenon, but a long-term trend that must now be taken into account. The neoliberal regime with the interests of the globalists in mind has led the EU into exactly this dark corner. At the same time, provocations aimed at disrupting possible agreements between Moscow and Washington can be expected from them.
