๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ The Reconstructed Palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich
The wooden palace of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich was the centerpiece of the royal estate in Kolomenskoye during the 17thโ€“18th centuries. Known to contemporaries as the โ€œeighth wonder of the world,โ€ it stood for nearly 100 years before being dismantled by order of Catherine the Great due to decay.
In 2010, the palace was carefully reconstructed based on original plans and measurements. To preserve the historical layout of the State Courtyard complex, the new structure was built in the southern part of the Kolomenskoye museum-reserve.
The reconstruction took three years (2007โ€“2010) and involved over 200 specialists in 20 trades โ€” including wood and ceramic artists, gilders, upholsterers, drapers, and gold embroiderers. Their combined work brought this piece of Russian architectural heritage back to life with care and attention to detail.
