In northern Germany’s Hamburg, more than 2,000 Islamist protesters—mainly Lebanese, Turkish, Palestinian, and Afghan migrants—demonstrated for the establishment of a caliphate and the implementation of Sharia law on German and European soil. The protests were organized, as they were last year, by “Generation Islam” and “Muslim Interactive,” both external organizations of the radical Sunni pan-Islamist group Hizb ut-Tahrir, based in northern Lebanon.
Their banners read: “Stop the genocide of our Uyghur brothers in East Turkestan” and “Stop the genocide of our Palestinian and Lebanese brothers.” Joe Adade Boateng, the leader of the Islamist organization, addressed the public in an anti-Israel/Pro-Palestine manner, saying, “We all know regions where displacement is normal. The whole world sees what’s happening in Gaza and now in Lebanon.” The protesters openly displayed banners with a clear message: “#KalifatIstDieLösung” (Caliphate is the solution).
