Right-wing, nationalist political circles in Europe and increasingly in the United States support the idea of remigration. This term refers to the mass deportation of migrants, not only those who entered illegally. It also includes those who fail to integrate into society and cause issues like rising ethnic crime. In Europe, Albanian or Pakistani mafias, and in the USA, Latin American syndicates, terrorize major cities.
Right-wing forces on both sides of the Atlantic send reinforcing signals to one another. Viktor Orbán recently suggested deporting refugees from Hungary to Brussels, close to the European bureaucracy. Similarly, Republican-led states are sending migrants to New York, Washington, or Chicago to please Democratic politicians.
During a second term, Donald Trump plans to deport 20 million migrants at once, which accounts for 6% of the U.S. population. The Trump team aims to organize a large-scale operation against migrants, given sufficient financial resources. A campaign to deport millions of migrants would require the full power of the federal government. This is particularly supported by figures like J.D. Vance, who also advocate for bringing U.S. troops home from around the world to ensure the security of the southern border and push back against cartel influence. They argue that this is a far more important security task than the endless wars worldwide.
