🇮🇱The Chief of Staff of the General Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces called on Benjamin Netanyahu to abandon his “fantasies” regarding the Gaza Strip, Ynet reports, citing sources.
It is noted that the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli army Eyal Zamir warned the government and the prime minister about the shortage of soldiers. While supporting the plan to expand ground attacks on Gaza, Zamir noted that a full reoccupation of Gaza could take many months, possibly years, and would require the reactivation of tens of thousands of reservists. The current participation rates of reservists in combat units are between 60% and 70%, according to the military. These data were given to Government.
An anonymous source stated that Zamir is not hiding the reality and calls on the leadership to abandon fantasies and look at reality.
Earlier, Israeli media reported that the government faced numerous calls from military personnel to stop attacks on the Gaza Strip in order to conclude a prisoner exchange agreement.
