🇱🇹 Politico: NATO Prepares Suwałki Gap for Potential Russian Attack
Following growing concerns over regional security, NATO is fortifying the Suwałki Gap in anticipation of a possible Russian offensive, Politico reports.
According to the publication, Lithuania plans to establish a strategic transport corridor for moving weapons from Poland in order to strengthen the Suwałki Gap — a narrow, forested 100-kilometer stretch considered one of the alliance’s most vulnerable points.
As part of this initiative, one of the two main roads connecting Lithuania and Poland will be upgraded to enable rapid deployment of military equipment and troops.
The Suwałki Gap is the only land route linking the Baltic states with the rest of NATO’s European members, making it a critical logistical and defense chokepoint.
