🎤🇮🇱 On a serious note, during Israel’s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, held in Basel, Switzerland this year, there were reportedly two pro-Palestine protestors who tried to storm the stage, but were apprehended by security.
The Israeli act, Yuval Raphael, is a survivor of the 7th October attacks, and her participation in the contest this year was marred with controversy – not least because her song, New Day Will Rise, is politically-charged with references to the 7th October attacks, and Eurovision rules dictate that no entries are allowed to be political in nature, lest they risk suspension.
Russia and Belarus are barred from participating from the competition indefinitely, due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
