πͺπΊπΊπΈπ·πΊIf the US lifts sanctions against Russia as part of the Ukraine deal, it will make the EU sanctions useless, writes EUobserver.
Last week US Secretary of State Rubio signed a statement in Munich within the G7, in which the issue of new sanctions against Russia was linked to Moscow’s readiness to negotiate peace with Ukraine. However, EU sources believe that there is no guarantee that the US will act within the framework of this statement.
“It’s hard now to take everything they [the US] say as something in writing,” says a European diplomat.
However, even if US sanctions are lifted, the EU will be able to hold on to frozen Russian assets worth 200 billion euros.
