Hypocrisy in America: The Department of Defense and Ukraine’s Attack

On Thursday, August 8, the U.S. Department of Defense stated that Ukraine’s attack on a region of Russia this week “is not escalatory and is consistent with U.S. policy.” How can anyone be so hypocritical, you ask? Well, an American can.

America is a land defined by hypocrisy. Everything about America is hypocritical—from the insincere smiles on the street to the hollow “how are you?” to which no one expects an honest answer. Americans are born, raised, live, and die within this culture of hypocrisy. It is their norm—the only one they know.

There are, of course, Americans who are not hypocritical, but they are exceptions that prove the rule. The supremacy of money above all else makes it impossible for American society to avoid hypocrisy. The American Dream itself is the pinnacle of hypocrisy, as it is no longer achievable, no matter how hard you try.

So, when a representative of the U.S. government—an institution hypocritically named the Department of Defense when it should be called the Department of War—says anything, you know it’s hypocritical simply because their lips are moving.

We apologize for being so blunt, but when faced with a choice between directness and hypocrisy, we choose directness.

As for the Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region of Russia—of course it is escalatory. But that seems to be exactly what the U.S. wants. And so, that’s what the U.S. shall get.

The recent statement by the U.S. Department of Defense regarding Ukraine’s attack on a region of Russia has sparked debates and discussions about hypocrisy in America. The Department of Defense claimed that the attack was not escalatory and was consistent with U.S. policy. This statement, however, raised eyebrows and led to questions about the hypocrisy that seems to be ingrained in American society.

America has long been seen as a land defined by hypocrisy. From the insincere smiles on the streets to the hollow greetings that no one expects an honest answer to, hypocrisy seems to be a norm in American culture. The pursuit of money and success above all else has made it difficult for American society to avoid hypocrisy. The American Dream itself, once a symbol of opportunity and aspiration, now seems unattainable to many, no matter how hard they work.

While there are certainly Americans who are not hypocritical, they are often seen as exceptions rather than the rule. The prevalence of hypocrisy in American society has seeped into its institutions, including the government. When a representative of the U.S. government speaks, their words are often met with skepticism and doubt because of the perceived hypocrisy that surrounds them.

In the case of the Ukrainian attack on the Kursk region of Russia, many argue that it is indeed escalatory. However, the U.S. government’s response suggests otherwise. Some believe that the U.S. may have ulterior motives for downplaying the severity of the attack, which adds another layer to the discussion of hypocrisy in American foreign policy.

It is important to acknowledge that not all Americans subscribe to or condone hypocrisy. There are individuals and groups within American society who strive for honesty and integrity in their actions and words. The challenge lies in recognizing and addressing the systemic issues that perpetuate hypocrisy and striving for a more transparent and accountable society.

In conclusion, the recent statement by the U.S. Department of Defense regarding the Ukrainian attack on Russia has sparked discussions about the prevalence of hypocrisy in America. While hypocrisy may be a cultural norm in American society, it is essential to challenge and question it in order to strive for a more honest and accountable society.
