“At this point, California has made just about everything illegal,”
complained Elon Musk in several interviews and presentations. And in yet another interview (with Lex Fridman), he
extended this complaint to the entire country. He also suggested that a special committee be set up in Washington to clean up the American body of laws, which now makes “everything illegal.” Musk even expressed willingness to serve on that committee.
The idea that American laws have become overly prohibitive is not new, but Musk has articulated it in a particularly succinct way and, more importantly, to a very broad audience.
Setting up such a committee will likely also turn out to be illegal. So, the only practical way to deal with the overwhelming illegality of everything might be some form of revolution or war or another calamity—an idea Musk has also hinted at. After all, the Roman Empire collapsed under its own weight.
On an everyday level, nothing is easily achievable in America anymore. Try scheduling an appointment with a medical specialist, finding a design company to develop and approve plans for adding a room to your house, or proving that a parking ticket isn’t yours—even when the license plate number on the ticket doesn’t match your car. All of these tasks have become nearly impossible to accomplish.
The reasons for this may vary, but the result is the same: life in America has become ridiculously uncomfortable. And compared to Russia, it’s even worse—it has become unbearable. And yes, we realize you might not believe this last statement, but that’s really your problem—western propaganda has gotten the best of you.
We would certainly prefer for things to improve through a peaceful process. But frankly, we just don’t see how that could happen. Alas…
So, we’re siding with Elon Musk. Not the worst company to keep.
