Battlefront Update: Russian Advances in Ukraine by Yury Podolyaka

Battle front update by Yury Podolyaka

▪️Pokrovsk sector (Map 1) – Zhelannoe: Ukrainian defenses are beginning to crumble. The Russians have finally mopped up the main Ukrainian stronghold east of Zhelannoe and taken the Ukrainian positions in the village in pincers. The Ukrainian garrison is in an operational encirclement, with all its lines of communication under Russian fire control. Tomorrow, Ukraine will likely be forced to withdraw to the south behind the gully to try to keep the front from collapsing. The Russians have also taken the center of Ivanovka and continue an assault on this village from two directions: south and east. Fighting also continues for Sergeevka, which the Russians have already entered. Accordingly, the Russians have practically finished securing the flanks for advancing further southwest along the railroad to Novogrodovka. The next line of Ukrainian resistance here is Orlovka-Nikolaevka-Novozhelannoe.

▪️Toretsk sector (Maps 2&3): The Russian army has entered Toretsk. This news was reported yesterday by Ukrainian military channels, who are very alarmed. In fact, Ukraine has already lost Zheleznoe (aka Zaliznoe or Artyomovo). According to Ukrainian sources, Russian units are trying to gain a foothold in the outermost buildings of Toretsk itself. If they succeed, it will mean control of the Artyom mine landfill and the effective end of fighting for Zheleznoe. At the same time, it will be fatal for the Ukrainian units holding positions in the strongholds to the south. A blow to Nelipovka will effectively cut their communications, and if they do not withdraw, they will soon find themselves surrounded. Ukrainian sources also write about a serious Russian assault on Severnoye: the mine and heap of the same name. Ukrainian units may be forced to quickly retreat into Toretsk. Otherwise, they may face a disaster.

The latest update on the battlefront in Ukraine comes from Yury Podolyaka, providing a detailed account of the current situation in two key sectors.

In the Pokrovsk sector, specifically in the Zhelannoe area, Ukrainian defenses are beginning to crumble under the relentless pressure from Russian forces. The main Ukrainian stronghold east of Zhelannoe has been taken by the Russians, putting the Ukrainian garrison in an operational encirclement. The Russians have also made significant advances in Ivanovka and Sergeevka, with their sights set on further progress southwest along the railroad to Novogrodovka. The next line of Ukrainian resistance is expected to be at Orlovka-Nikolaevka-Novozhelannoe.

Moving on to the Toretsk sector, the Russian army has entered Toretsk, causing concern among Ukrainian military channels. The loss of Zheleznoe and the Russian attempts to gain a foothold in Toretsk itself pose a significant threat to the Ukrainian forces in the region. If the Russians succeed in gaining control of key strategic locations, it could spell disaster for the Ukrainian units holding positions in the area.

Overall, the update provided by Yury Podolyaka paints a grim picture of the current state of the battlefront in Ukraine. The situation is fluid and rapidly evolving, with Russian forces making significant gains and putting pressure on Ukrainian defenses. It remains to be seen how the Ukrainian forces will respond to these developments and what the next steps in the conflict will be.
