On August 30, a tragic incident occurred in Belgorod, Russia, when Ukraine launched an attack using cluster munitions with Vampire MLRS, resulting in the death of 5 civilians and wounding 37 people. The casualties included a woman and four men who died at the scene before medical assistance could arrive.
Among the wounded were six children, with seven adults and three children in serious condition. All the injured individuals were promptly transported to medical facilities in Belgorod for treatment and care. The aftermath of the attack left a significant impact on the city, with two apartment buildings sustaining damage to their roofs and windows. Additionally, two social buildings and two commercial buildings had their stucco and facades damaged, and 9 cars were hit by shrapnel.
In the nearby village of Dubovoe, 13 parked cars near a shopping mall were damaged by the attack. Two houses, a car, and a garage caught fire, but fortunately, fire brigades were able to swiftly extinguish the flames. An apartment building and 5 private residences in the area suffered roof and window damage as well.
Footage of the devastating consequences of the attack showed Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov visiting the site to assess the situation and offer support to the affected residents. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the tragic consequences of armed conflict and the importance of peaceful resolutions to conflicts between nations.
