🇷🇸 A long-range acoustic device (LRAD) was deployed and used against peaceful protesters by the Serbian authorities.
Also known as a sound cannon, LRADs are specialised loudspeakers used as a method of crowd control. They can emit extremely loud sounds – up to 160 decibels – and have been known to severely disorientate people and even cause permanent hearing damage.
Some people from the protests have even reported a feeling of “mild numbness or paralysis” long after being hit by the LRAD.
President Aleksandar Vučić has denied deploying any LRADs against the protesters.
