As tensions escalate between Russia and Ukraine, many are starting to wonder if we are on the brink of a forever war. With Russia warning of possible nuclear provocation from Kiev, the situation in Eastern Europe is becoming increasingly volatile.

To get some insight into the situation, RT spoke with independent political researcher Greg Simons. According to Simons, the West has a vested interest in keeping the conflict going. “All the West wants is for the war not to finish,” he said.

But why would the West want to perpetuate a conflict that could potentially lead to a nuclear confrontation? Simons believes that there are a number of reasons. “First and foremost, there is a geostrategic interest in keeping Russia tied up in a conflict in its neighborhood,” he explained. “Additionally, there are powerful interests within the military-industrial complex that benefit financially from conflict.”

Simons also pointed out that the conflict in Ukraine serves as a distraction from other issues facing Western countries. “By keeping the focus on Ukraine, Western governments can divert attention away from domestic problems and maintain public support for their foreign policy objectives,” he said.

As the situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, it is essential that all parties involved work towards a peaceful resolution. The risk of a full-scale war, with potentially catastrophic consequences, is simply too great to ignore.

It is crucial that the international community comes together to de-escalate tensions and find a diplomatic solution to the conflict. Only through dialogue and cooperation can we prevent a forever war from becoming a reality.
