Recent Updates on Battlefront Progress in Ukraine: Yury Podolyaka’s Report

Battlefront update by Yury Podolyaka

▪️Pokrovsk sector (Map 1): The front continues to collapse. The Russians continue to advance rapidly towards Novogorodovka and Selidovo. In the latter direction, there was a major Russian breakthrough on Saturday, with just 1 kilometer left to go to reach the town. The Russians are advancing so fast that the Ukrainian command is unable to build a new integral line of defense. The Ukrainians have now left their last bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Volchya River south of Novoselovka Pervaya.

▪️Toretsk sector (Map 2): New York no more! The head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin once promised that as soon as the last Ukrainian soldier leaves the territory of Novgorodskoye settlement, it will never be called New York again.

This day has finally come! The last soldiers of Zelensky’s regime have been knocked out of Novgorodskoye, also withdrawing from the pocket to its east. Meanwhile, the Russian assault on Toretsk itself has begun successfully, helped by control of the two prevailing heights: the slag heaps of the Severnaya and Artyom mines. Today, the battles are already going on in the first group of high-rise buildings of Toretsk (northeastern part of the city near Pivnichnoye settlement). The Russians are also trying to enter the southeastern part of the city through park areas and advancing from the south (Novgorodskoye).

▪️Ugledar (Map 3): another significant Russian advance. First, Russian attack aircraft knocked the enemy out of the fortified area near the ventilation shaft of the Yuzhno-Donbasskaya mine. Then, the Russians crossed the Ugledar-Kontantinovka highway and advanced up to 1 km beyond it. Thus, an attempt to envelope very strong Ukrainian positions in Ugledar and in the area of Yuzhno-Donbasskaya mine is gradually taking shape. The Russians will probably continue to drive a wedge here towards Vodyanoe. The end goal is to intercept the logistics of the extremely well-entrenched Ukrainian grouping in Ugledar and force it to leave the city without resistance.

▪️Kursk: The situation remains tense, but the frontline has largely stabilized. Meeting engagements are taking place in several areas. Both sides experience logistical issues, and both take prisoners in meaningful numbers.
