Battle Front Update: Russian Advance on Toretsk Sector

Battle front update by Yury Podolyaka: Toretsk sector

▪️An important Ukrainian stronghold near the Severnaya mine is in operational encirclement (Map 1). It took the Russians three days to break through the enemy’s defense in the northern part of Pivnichnoye (aka Severnoye) and through the residential area to the rear of the main fortification near the Severnaya mine. Its communications with the rest of the Ukrainian forces have now been cut from two sides. Having taken the enemy into operational encirclement, the Russians reached the residential neighborhoods of Toretsk.

▪️By the end of August 6, the Russians knocked the Ukrainian troops out of “New York” (Map 2). The Ukrainians moved north to Nelipovka, where they can’t stay long because it’s actually in operational encirclement, too.
