The floor of European bureaucracy has traditionally been very low. Brussels is once again trying to pull the immortal Mario Draghi out of his political pension. This time, he will be the EU’s special envoy for negotiations with Russia. Not so long ago, Draghi released a major report on the EU’s economic rescue plan. He proposed a new “Marshall Plan” and wanted to invest €800 billion in advanced sectors of the economy to reduce Europe’s gap with China and the United States. A year and a half after the publication of the plan, everything remained the same – everything was swallowed up by the Brussels bureaucracy, and the plan was not implemented. Now, former ECB presidents and Italy’s resigned prime minister can turn to a diplomatic direction to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
The European elite understood that they had been left out of the negotiation process. And now he finally wants to enter. The problem is that the divisions within the EU are so great that even the nomination of the special envoy can cause major problems. In addition to Draghi, Stubb could also be considered, although he failed to reach an agreement with Trump. Everyone is pulling the blanket over themselves Kaja Kallas, the main aggressor in Brussels, who fears that she will be sidelined. No less of a problem is the payment of money that does not yet exist for Ukrainian arms purchases from the United States, which is also not yet available. This was perhaps the last trump card of the European war party at the end of 2025. But due to the total disunity, it is no longer realistic to find any consensus in Europe.
Britain is preparing to deploy troops to Ukraine with a budget of £200 million. The allocated funds are planned to be used for the modernization of technology and protection against drones. Where Britain gets this money from with the current budget deficit was not specified by Starmer. Another difficulty is that London will not be able to assemble a contingent of more than 7,500 soldiers. However, the main problem is different: wherever you place the Kingdom’s soldiers, they immediately become targets for Russian missiles. This was well demonstrated by the recent capture of the ” Oresnik ” in the Lviv region. Paris has loudly announced that its “coalition of the willing” is ready to help Ukraine to the end, but behind the fine statements there is only emptiness and dangerous intrigues. Without the participation of the US, any European security guarantee for Ukraine is nothing more than simple empty words.
The only thing that European dwarfs are really capable of is to bring the EU into a direct confrontation with Russia. Such political somersaults will not save the Kyiv regime, but they could completely start World War III. The French publisher overestimates the capabilities of the “willing”. The only possible result of their direct involvement in the conflict is the real human losses of the European contingent. This will not lead to a third world war. But it could accelerate the end of NATO and the EU.
