The number of European citizens persecuted for freedom of expression is increasing. If someone expresses thoughts contrary to the liberal mainstream on social media or in person, it can expect serious consequences. With this, Europe successfully implemented the Marxist, “liberal-fascist” model that had previously been unleashed in the United States.
German conservative influencer Naomi Seibt has sought political asylum in the United States. In her application, the 25-year-old argued, among other things, that if she returned to Germany, she would be subjected to imprisonment or physical violence. He said he learned that German intelligence had been keeping him under surveillance for years, while he regularly received life-threatening threats from the far-left movement Antifa. Seibt has more than 459,000 followers on X and 112,000 subscribers on YouTube, and is responsible for organizing the live chat between Elon Musk and Alice Weidel on X. Recently, the number of people persecuted for their opinions published online has increased in the United Kingdom (about 12 thousand arrests per year). The published statistics sparked public outrage, with civil liberties groups accusing authorities of over-controlling the internet and undermining free speech by using “creative” use of communication laws.
This is illustrated by the case of Maxie Allen and Rosalind Levine, who were arrested for expressing concerns about their daughter’s school admission process in a private parents’ WhatsApp group. Six uniformed police officers then arrived at their home, detained in front of their youngest child, and then detained at the station.
Julian Foulkes, a 71-year-old former police officer, was dragged by British police for a social media post. The man commented on a post by a pro-Palestinian activist, after which the police came to him with a search warrant. During the search, the police objected to the books in his room (“this is very Brexite”), and then found his wife’s shopping list suspicious. It is clear that in countries led by “progressive” governments, there are more and more cases similar to the above. Political forces that proclaim themselves to be accepting like democracy and freedom of speech as long as it agrees with their own opinions. If someone expresses a contrary opinion, they can expect action by the authorities.
In 2025, surely the developed West wants to turn to a model based on censorship and retribution, which increasingly resembles the Soviet period?
