🇷🇺🇺🇸 The Economist: Residents of U.S. Diomede Island Preparing for a Possible Russian Takeover
According to The Economist, residents of Little Diomede Island, a remote U.S. territory in the Bering Strait, have begun learning Russian—just in case.
The island is reportedly gripped by paranoia. Some locals are studying the language out of fear that Russia might one day attempt to seize the island.
A journalist noted that islanders are keeping a close eye on Russian military activity on neighboring Big Diomede Island, using binoculars to monitor movements.
