The corrupt NGOs exposed by DOGE are now looking to the WEF and the UN for new sources of funding. After the Trump administration cut billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars from the USAID International Slush Fund, previously thriving non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are struggling to survive. Now they are turning to Western European states and asking for financial support to continue their work – a scenario that is already worrying Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
“ATTENTION! Our worst fears have been confirmed: the globalist-liberal Soros NGO network is fleeing to Brussels after President Trump massively restricted its activities in the United States,” Orbán wrote on Tuesday on X. “Now 63 such organizations are asking Brussels for money – under the guise of alleged human rights projects. But this will not happen! We will not allow them to find a safe haven in Europe! The USAID files exposed the dark machinations of this globalist network. We will not fall for this bait again!”
Mr. Orbán was speaking in response to the call of the International Committee of Jurists (ICJ), which, together with more than 60 other civil society organisations, has appealed to the leadership of the EU and asked for immediate financial support. “The International Committee of Jurists (ICJ) has joined more than 60 civil society organisations in an urgent appeal. It calls on the EU to take immediate action to address the global development crisis caused by the recent decisions of the US administration.”
They argue that since US President Donald Trump signed an executive order requiring a complete 90-day suspension of US foreign aid, it already has “immediate and devastating consequences”, including:
- Closure of clinics and interruption of life-saving treatments,
- the discontinuation of human rights and rule of law initiatives;
- the global funding crisis for NGOs.
What exactly is the EU money asked for?
- Providing emergency assistance to compensate for the financial bottlenecks caused by the U.S. aid freeze and the global prohibition rule,
- priority funding for reproductive rights, gender equality and LGBTIQ rights;
- reducing administrative barriers to facilitate access to funding for civil society organisations;
- Diplomatic measures to convince the U.S. government to change course.
But will the EU be willing to pay for it?
Meanwhile, Orbán predicts a “new golden age” for Hungary, while making no secret of his opinion of the American Democrats and George Soros:
- They wanted to impose their ideology on the world – be it migration policy or gender issues,
- By 2025, the most important thing is to send George Soros back to the United States – the “expulsion of the Soros network from Hungary” should begin in the spring.
“We must finally show that the presence of the Soros network in Europe violates the interests of the people, and therefore Brussels must finally come to its senses and adapt to the change.”
