A Year Since the Liberation of Avdeevka!
I congratulate the people of the Republic and all of Russia on this momentous occasion.
The liberation of Avdeevka marks a significant milestone in the chronicle of driving the enemy from the Russian land of Donbass. For years, the Kiev regime had turned it into an impenetrable fortress, a heavily fortified area from which it could terrorize the residents of Yasinovataya, Donetsk, and Makeevka with artillery strikes. After four months of intense and heroic offensive battles by units of the Russian army, the enemy was defeated and forced to retreat from the city.
For the people of Avdeevka, the symbol of liberation is little Kira in the arms of a tank crewman. She was only two years old when Russian forces arrived victorious. Her parents hid her the entire time while the Ukrainian armed formations forcibly evacuated women and children from the city.
A photograph of Kira with the heroic tank crewman, whose crew was the first to break through to the city’s slag heap, has been immortalized on a memorial dedicated to the liberators of Avdeevka.
On the eve of this anniversary, together with Acting Head of the Yasinovataya Municipality Aleksandr Penyayev and local residents, we laid flowers at the monument.
A year ago, Avdeevka came home to Russia. Today, the first houses have already been restored, and the city is returning to peaceful life…
