Deportations in Germany

Germany is massively deporting migrants, as the August terrorist attack has changed everything. The number of people deported in Germany increased by more than twenty percent this year up to September compared to the same period last year. The increase in deportations is of significant importance following the August terrorist attack in the city of Solingen, which sparked intense political debates. Authorities could have deported the attacker back to Bulgaria before the incident, but he ultimately avoided being sent back.

The German Ministry of the Interior recorded a total of 14,706 deportations from Germany between January and September 2024, reflecting a 22 percent increase compared to the 12,042 deportations in the same period in 2023. Most of those deported from Germany were sent back to Georgia, Macedonia, Austria, Albania, and Serbia, with deportations to Afghanistan also continuing.

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser recently confirmed that deportations to Afghanistan would continue, but organizing deportations to Syria requires further investigation.
