According to a new Austrian poll, more and more Austrians want a law to ban Islamism. What’s particularly surprising is that voters of the Green Party also support this demand. A new survey shows that an increasing number of Austrians want the state to take stronger action against the spread of Islamism. The newspaper Heute asked its readers whether they support a law to ban Islamism.
The result is clear: 67 percent of Austrians are in favor.
What’s also particularly interesting is the agreement based on the respondents’ voting preferences: FPÖ (83 percent), Greens (74 percent), Beer Party (73 percent), ÖVP (70 percent), and NEOS (64 percent). SPÖ voters come in last with 56 percent, but this still means that every second voter supports the idea. There appears to be a relatively high level of agreement here, reflecting concern about the rise of Islamism and the desire for political countermeasures.
