The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) claims to have thwarted a Russian-sponsored influence operation aimed at shaping American public opinion on Russian foreign policy. According to the statement, the influence operation relied on AI-generated content, paid social media advertisements, and social media accounts.
In connection with this, the DOJ announced the seizure of 32 internet domains. It is suspected that Russian companies, including the Social Design Agency (SDA), Structura National Technology (Structura), and ANO Dialog, were used to covertly spread Russian government propaganda with the aim of reducing international support for Ukraine and promoting pro-Russian policies and interests. It was also alleged that these organizations could influence elections in the U.S. and abroad.
This news is not a hoax, as it was included in an official communiqué. It seems like the old tactic has resurfaced: “If you can’t overcome your internal problems, find a potential enemy and blame everything on them.”
